Welcome to École Joseph-Moreau!
I am very proud to be the principal of the first Francophone school in Western Canada that serves only Grade 7, 8, and 9 students under one roof! It is also a great source of pride for me to work in a school named in honour of Dr. Joseph Moreau, a pioneer of Alberta’s Francophone community who fought from the very beginning for French-language education in Edmonton.
Since its opening in September 2009, the school has stood out in many areas, including academics, the arts, and sports! Our girls’ and boys’ teams in soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track and field have all won city championships.
Our robotics teams have also distinguished themselves by winning first place at the Alberta First Lego League Championship or by becoming finalists, allowing them to represent the province at the First Lego League World Championship in Atlanta and the North American Championship in California.
Our music and theatre groups have also earned top honours at the provincial level!
This year, we welcome 323 students who benefit from personalized support, specialized complementary courses, diverse engagement opportunities, a wide range of extracurricular activities, and professional support services. Students are supported by a dedicated staff, allowing us to offer many opportunities such as participating in the Festival Théâtre Jeunesse, the Génies en herbe competition, intramurals, and much more!
